Primary English Section
At Colegio San Bartolomé, our Primary English Section accompanies students on a journey that begins in 1st grade at Beginner level and grows step by step until reaching a solid B1 level by 7th grade.
Our students take part in international Cambridge exams along the way:

In addition to English, we are proud to offer our students the chance to explore a third language: French. This project is expanding every year. Children begin in 3rd grade with a light weekly schedule, and today they are already achieving:

7th grade: DELF Prim A1
Looking ahead, from 2028 onwards, our goal is for them to reach DELF Prim A1 in 5th grade and DELF Prim A2 in 7th grade.
How we teach:
Our English classes take place entirely in English, four days a week. Groups are mixed-ability, and our teaching style combines the best practices from renowned approaches in foreign language learning, always aiming to keep students motivated, confident, and curious.
Special moments:

In the first cycle, each school year ends with a much-loved annual concert, where children bring together what they have learned through acting, music, and dance—an event full of talent and joy.

In the second cycle, the focus naturally shifts towards preparing for international exams, while continuing to strengthen language skills and confidence.
Secondary English Section
At Colegio San Bartolomé, language learning in secondary school is enriched through the integration of subjects such as Art, Geography, History, and Literature, providing students with meaningful, real-world contexts to deepen their understanding.
To validate their growing linguistic skills, students sit for internationally recognized Cambridge English exams, including B2 First for Schools, C1 Advanced, and C2 Proficiency. These exams are taken progressively, in alignment with each student’s individual learning pace and achievements.
English learning at this stage goes beyond grammar and vocabulary. It encompasses the development of discourse competence and an awareness of social and cultural contexts. This is strengthened by the teaching of Debate. Students engaged in debate must research topics and real-world issues thoroughly, examine issues from multiple perspectives, analyze complex ideas, and build well-reasoned arguments based on evidence. Debate fosters critical thinking, digital literacy, creativity, respectful communication and oral fluency.
Through this comprehensive approach, Colegio San Bartolomé equips its students with the tools to become confident, articulate, and globally competent speakers of English as a second language — a hallmark of our graduate profile.
