Physical education
and Sports Training

A sporting tradition that transcends the school

Physical Education plays a central role in the academic project of St. Bartholomew’s School and aims to contribute to the students' development through movement, play, and sports. In order to support our students in their growth, we expose them to meaningful experiences that enhance their well-being and physical development, enabling them to learn skills and specific techniques that each sport requires.

All the activities and projects carried out encourage the introduction of active and healthy lifestyle habits, while promoting personal improvement, teamwork, and respect for rules. Emphasis is placed on the continuous development of motor skills and fostering values associated with fair play.

Physical Education lessons take place during the afternoon shift at the Grantfield Sports Field. This facility features extensive green areas, rugby, hockey, and soccer fields, as well as a swimming pool, an athletics track, changing rooms, and a cafeteria. The sports field provides optimal conditions for practising sports in a safe, outdoor environment connected with nature.

The Grantfield site is shared with the Old Resian Club, founded by St. Bartholomew’s alumni to allow friendship and sporting activities from childhood and adolescence to continue beyond school.

Throughout the year, our students—divided into their three Houses—learn and grow through participation and competition, practising individual and team sports such as swimming, hockey, rugby, soccer, handball, and athletics, among others. In September, the Sports Day brings together all levels and members of our educational community to enjoy camaraderie, sporting achievements, and to celebrate the winning house.

Several alumni from our school have excelled in sports, both at professional and amateur levels. Their careers show the quality of the education received at St. Bartholomew’s. They are a source of pride for us, and they demonstrate the enduring impact of the values and principles we promote every day.

The Houses

These three Houses divide the students into teams and encourage both sporting and cultural competition, playing a central role in the school’s traditional annual Sports Day and academic events. Their names honor three historical figures who symbolize the Argentine-British connection: William Hudson, George Canning, and Robert Cunninghame Graham.
